Times Higher Education Ranking 2023

The University of Sydney has five subjects in the top 50 globally and has improved its performance in seven out of eleven subjects.

Five subjects are ranked above 50 globally – Education (27), Law (38), Clinical and Health (35), Arts and Humanities (39) and Life Sciences (46). The university is ranked number one in Australia for arts and humanities.

Education (from 31 to 27), life sciences (from 14 to 46) and computer science (from 12 to 62) were the areas that saw the most improvement this year.

“I commend the efforts of our staff, whose hard work is reflected in our competitiveness in these and other international rankings. This year’s Times Higher Education results underline our particular strengths in medicine, health and the humanities. A key ambition of our new ten-year strategy is to increase recognition in Australia and how our excellent teaching and research work can meet the challenges of It’s about doing things that will solve and change lives,” said Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Mark Scott.
